Francisco de Moura Cândido Apurinã

Dr. Francisco (de Moura Cândido) Apurinã (Yumunery) works as a post-doctoral researcher in Indigenous Studies at the University of Helsinki, Finland. He received his PhD in 2019 from the University of Brasília. He is an Apurinã scholar with robust expertise in Amazonian Indigenous governance, research ethics, Indigenous knowledge, legal environmental licensing processes, oral history, and Indigenous ontologies. He has participated in diverse land demarcation processes and contributed to the design of Indigenous education in Brazil. His most recent research positions have been in Indigenous Studies projects at the University of Helsinki related to biodiversity and biocultural heritage.
